Follow-up on Kellogg's rebate

I missed out on the Kellogg's rebate. I sent the rebate form and UPCs in, and then a few days later I read on the web that the rebate offer expired earlier than the original offering due to high demand. I was very disturbed about this since I had sent in 20 UPCs and missed out on $20. But, last week I received my envelopes back, return to sender. I forgot that I also read that envelopes were being rejected because of a change in address. I still missed out on the $20 rebate, but at least I can hold on to the UPCs for a possible future offer. We'll see.

Small but for some reason intimidating task...

I have to compile my cereal UPCs, fill out the rebate form, then send it in. For some reason I seem to be procrastinating this. I better check to make sure I haven't missed the deadline. That would be awful to miss out on $20 because of no good reason. This is the Kellogg cereal rebate. And, even though I have upwards of 30 or more boxes of cereal in my growing stockpile, I still need to purchase 4 more boxes to finish out another $10 rebate, to make my total of $30. I better get hopping, like the Easter Bunny.

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter.

Cereal Overload

I got to use up my last remaining $5/5 Kelloggs Cereals coupons today. CVS has select Kelloggs cereal on sale for $1.77, which include Raisin Bran, Cornflakes, Rice Krispies, Cocoa Krispies, Apple Jacks, Fruit Loops. First 5 I bought I also used my free milk coupon (buy 3 breakfast items, get a free gallon of milk). I believe that coupon came from the Milk Mustache campaign on Facebook, probably no longer available.

Kelloggs is also running a gas card promotion where you send in the form and 10 UPC codes from select boxes of cereal and they will send you a $10 card good for gas. Basically, with my $5/5 coupons, I got 10 boxes of cereal for free.

So happy I got to use those coupons, they expire today!

Lack of Control

I absolutely despise going grocery shopping and not having control over the coupons! Shopping with the girls right now is a nightmare but a necessity. Went to Publix today and I handed over a stack of coupons to the cashier, apologetically because the girls were fussing and I didn't have time to sort them out or remove the paper clips. She was a kind cashier, assured me it was all okay.

However, as I'm reviewing my receipt, I swear the competitor coupon I gave her was for $10 off of $50, but I see a $5 credit. Maybe I was wrong, and there's no way for me to tell now. I also had a coupon for the dog treats, B2G1 and the store was also running a BOGO, so I should have gotten two of them, no, three of them for free. Don't think that happened. I see strange vendor coupon credit amounts, but none match the dollar amount of the treats.

Oh well. In all, I saved 70% on my groceries today, paying $41.95 (not including tax) for value of $142.60. Too much money in my book, but still a decent amount to save considering I had fresh produce, CFL bulbs, and some meat. Yes, had a coupon for the meat and the bulbs, but not the produce.

Best Deals: Kraft Philadelpha Indulgence White Chocolate, which were 2/$4, and I had store coupon for $2/2 and also 2 $1/1 coupons... FREE! Also the Kraft Philadelphia Cooking Creme containers, 2/$4, and I had the $2/2 store coupon and $1/1 and $0.55/1... so, that was 2 for $0.45!
Also scored 4 bottles of Purell, 8oz for $0.50 with a competitor coupon $1/1 and manufacturer coupon $1/1.

My iffy purchases were the International Delight creamers which were BOGO $2.15 -- I couldn't find my MQ (manufacturer's coupon)s for $0.55/1, but I opted to just buy them anyway since the flavors sounded so good and they were working out to be $1.075 each. Found my coupons, by the way... sitting at home, on my desk, taunting me...

In all, 70% is nothing to be sad about... just wish I had more control over the coupons at checkout.

Hawaii: Times Supermarkets

What the heck, here's a couple for Times Supermarkets for the current ad (3/7 - 3/13/12)
Reach Toothbrushes, 1.99 -- Coupon: $2/2 Reach Toothbrushes (1 ct)

Country Crock Spread, $4.69 -- Coupon: $1/1 Country Crock Spreads, excludes Honey an Cinnamon Flavored Spreads)

Ouch! Tropicana 59 oz., $3.99 -- This past weekend there was a Pepsi "Moments to Save" insert in the 3/4 Sunday paper. There is a $1 off of 2 Tropicana 59oz. bottles. (I say "Ouch" because Tropicana is expensive, but we are paying "only" $3 for the same bottle here in FL). I just used my coupon to buy 2 bottles at Walmart for $2.97 each, less the $1 on 2. Sorry, no link, you need the paper coupon for this one. Dig it out of the recycle stack!!

FYI: Here's the Times Supermarkets Coupon Policy

Hawaii: Foodland Coupon Policy and a few deals

Just in case you wanted to read up on their coupon policy -- here's the link: Foodland Coupon Policy No competitor coupons, no coupons on the "free" item for BOGO (Buy One Get One)... up to 4 like coupons per transaction. No store coupon & manufacturer coupon stacking allowed either. Oh well!
Bring in your reusable bags when you shop at Foodland, and they knock $0.05 off for each of your own bag that is used. I love that! Target does that also, by the way (make a note to yourself when Target finally opens where good ol Holiday Mart/Daiei/Don Quixote used to be).

Now for some good deals effective for the current flyer:
I did see on their insert that they have an awesome $3 coupon when you buy 3 Kraft cheese items, which is on sale 2/$6, both the bagged shredded and single slice variety. Make sure you cut the coupon out of the ad and take it with you! I think you will also get a nice Catalina coupon from the register when you buy 3 or more Kraft cheese items. No way for me to confirm this, but supposedly:
Buy (3), Get $2.00 OYNO (off your next order)
Buy (4), Get $3.00 OYNO
Buy (5) Get $4.00 OYNO
Here is the link for the Coupon Network by Catalina offer for Kraft

Other note-worthy items that have good coupons:
Stouffers (Banquet) Family Entrees, $3.99 w card - there was a $2.00 manufacturers coupon in the 1/29/12 Red Plum insert - would make this $1.99. You can sign up for coupons on their Facebook page: Stouffer's Facebook page Right now, they have $2.00 off any one Stouffer's Sautes for Two product. Also, when you register they are giving a 0.50 coupon for Pepperidge Farm Frozen Stone Baked Artisan Rolls or Texas Toast. Signing up is going to allow you to get a few coupons over the next few weeks. These are good for the lazy nights, I suppose. I bought a few of the family sized entrees and plan on using them when my husband is out of town and I want to spend more time with the kids than in front of the stove. "Mommy, can you play with me?"...

Silk Coconut Milk, 2/$8 -- $1 any Silk Pure Coconut Milk.
There is also a $1 off Silk Fruit & Protein.

Listerine, $4.49, $1/1 Any Adult Listerine Mouthwash

Robitussin Cold and Cough, $4.99 -- $1.00 off any Robitussin product

FYI, you can print the coupon twice from the same computer.

A final note: Can I just say that I am JEALOUS that you can get a 20lb. bag Hinode rice for just $10.99?? I pay around $18 for a 20lb. bag of Botan rice.

That's all I have for now. Time change is about to hit us, which means instead of it being almost 2am, it's almost 3am. *sigh*

Happy saving, people!

New Feature

See something new on the left hand side? I'm thrilled about it because my newest obsession (truly an obsession) is coupons. This obsession is actually making a difference in our lives. I shop more carefully and pay attention to sales now. My bank account has dwindled down since I was laid off a few years ago, and the kids have been keeping me fairly busy (ha ha), so finding time for this obsession is a challenge and consumes most of my night after they've gone to bed. But it's been so worth it just because of the incredible savings I have seen using coupons and matching them up with hot sales.

I've been nabbing a lot of free items just by watching sales and using the coupons. Not only free... sometimes you make money on items, and the overage carries over to the rest of your purchase. Latest one was using a $1 Reach Dental Floss coupon at Target, where it was priced for $0.97. I've heard that Target adjusts the coupon amount to the actual sale price, but in this case, it was not. So, who knows? I've had good moneymaking deals at Walgreens, but I am coming to hate shopping there since 99.9% of the time my purchase requires management intervention since the registers are troublesome.

Anyway, my family and friends, I'll try to keep you in the loop for some good coupons and some sales that will make it well worth the ink and paper you use to print the coupon. Hang on to your coupon inserts from the newspaper and use them! Or, send them to me, ha ha. When I have the chance, I plan to do a little research on the stores in Hawaii. Figure if I can make one or two good deals for you, you'll see... it's worth it! :-)

Totally.

"Trying to keep up with life"... what an understatement. I am E X H A U S T E D!!!!

The babies are tag-teaming me with crying and wails for attention. For now, I am enjoying peace and quiet while the dryer takes care of the only two (semi-)uniforms B has for school.

This whole uniform thing has me annoyed and PO'd.

The latest is that when I placed the order a month and a half ago, they didn't tell me that it was missing a Style # for the shorts... there is no spot on the order form for style #!!! So, I finally receive the order, and it's missing half the items (the shorts), with a note jotted on it that they cannot complete the order. Hello?! Couldn't someone have TOLD ME THAT WHEN I GAVE THEM THE ORDER?!! So when I called today, they said come to the office and take a look at the shorts and give them the style number. I did just that, went down to the school office to look at the shorts and select the style. And what happened? THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE SHORTS AVAILABLE FOR ME TO LOOK AT. They continuously do a horrible job at communicating and I'm about fed up. But, I guess it should get better if there's a next year at the school, when we know what to expect from them. So, enough complaining about the uniforms.

I'm trying to find a new way to journal - where it's not so wide open and I can tie it in to this site without a lot of work. God knows I don't have time to monkey with it. Not even spending a lot of time on my FB apps - who has time?! Sleeping very little, but maybe I found a solution by bundling the babes in one of those sack things. She looks like a little burrito. Too cute. She hasn't budged since her bath, over 3 hours ago.

Ah well, hope all is well with you and yours. Until next time...

Yuck

Took the kids to Target today to get out of the house. Little Miss Fussy spent the entire time Not Sleeping, while Little B every 4 seconds reminded me that he wanted to go look at the toys. The worst part of the shopping trip was at the end when I took him to the potty (he denied having to go while doing the potty-dance). Bad timing had us entering while an older woman was in there yacking her entire stomach contents out while her dear husband was tending to her. Since I had the stroller I had to go in the end stall, handicapped if you will, which was right next to the one she was yacking in...

Meanwhile, you know kids... Billy was so intrigued by what the woman was doing. He stood behind the husband and tried to look in the stall (they left the door open, since they both can't fit in the stall while she was puking). I ushered him on and then once we were in the stall, he proceeded to kneel and try to peak underneath....

I can tell you she probably had eggs for breakfast, because that was what appeared to be in chunks on the bathroom floor in our stall.

Good times.... Good times.

This and That

I'm exhausted.

There just isn't enough time in the day. Little B started pre-school and this week (and next) Big B is out of town (country) so I get the morning ritual all for myself. Ritual of getting Little B off to school on time. Once I drop him off, it seems like I blink and it's time to pick him up again, 6 hours later. Where does the time go? Three infant feedings, my breakfast, lunch, dishes... if I'm lucky a little down time. Right now I want to sleep. I opted for coffee instead.

I have a bubble on my eye. Huh?! Seriously. I looked in the mirror yesterday because I could feel that something was in there. It's a little bubble on the white of my eye. If it doesn't go away soon I'm going to be really annoyed.

Absolutely love that Netflix has the Watch Instantly available on the Wii. I have watched four seasons of Bones and then ran out. Waiting anxiously for season 5. Love it. Tons of stuff in our queue, they even have some Thomas and Caillou.

I better cut this short. Tick tock, it's almost time to leave the house again! Things to do!

Well. It's been quite a while since my last update, obviously. So much going on and this whole online journal thing is a pain when you know that it could disappear at any moment thanks to a glitch on the server or something.

B started his pre-Pre-K -- two two-week summer sessions before officially starting preschool. Not a tear was shed when he went to school. He loves it, but probably because they have trains and tracks there. Unfortunately the playground is one for mosquitoes too. His second day of pre-K, I picked him up to find he had about 12 bites, 4 of which were on his head. That and he carried a pound of sand home on his head, in his hair.

So anyway, the little guy is starting school. Enter our newest addition. She joined us early in June and it's been wonderful, but hard to get used to the whole infant thing again. Wow. She has to eat AGAIN? LOL. Eat, cry, sleep, change diaper. Heavy on all except for the sleep part! Though she is starting to sleep longer through the night, which is wonderful. She also has started smiling in response to funny faces or cooing, so the fun times are right ahead of us!

Other than that, it's been all about the business. The dog is driving me crazy. I need a maid. I hate spiders.

That's all for now, don't want to overload you or anything. ;-) Have some things to do before things get moving again for the day (baby wakes up and time to pick up the little guy from school).

Happy Thanksgiving

I'm thankful for the love in my life, for my wonderful family, and for our good health. Hoping everyone has a wonderful and filling Thanksgiving day. I'm pretty sure I will!

Made an apple cranberry pie tonight, which was supposed to be part of tomorrow's dessert, but it was so good only one small dish of it is left. Ha! We're having a pretty traditional meal tomorrow. Roasted turkey breast, stuffing, green bean casserole, a little bit of mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce (canned jellied and a dish of fresh cranberry sauce).... And rice, of course. I seem to have forgotten about the gravy though. Oops. I'm sure we'll manage to whip something up. Oh, and a pumpkin cheesecake. It all sounds good, but I can't wait to eat that stuffing. My favorite part of the meal!!

Happy Thanksgiving!
