Yum Tangerines

My favorite train lovin' librarian came to visit me on Tuesday (?). He brought me the best gift ever. I was so inspired to compose this haiku...

Lovely tangerines
within each section, a purse
holds nectar of gods.

Thank you.

Ode to Mango

Mango.JPG

Pearls of summer sun
one bite can stop time and brings
me back to childhood...

My earliest memory of this "fruit of the gods" is that I was allergic to the sap. I'd have a reaction similar to eating crab. Two of my favorite foods in the world and I would break out in rash after eating them.

It was worth the pain.

This season I have been blessed by a plethora of the succulent spheres of sappy sweetness. Yum.

Qualities of motherhood

Marveous; multi-tasking; macaroni & cheese making; mediator;
Open-minded; oven master; overly patient;
Tears of all kinds; tough; tender; teacher;
Hopeful; hair-raising; headstrong; huggable; healer of boo-boo's big and small;
Entertaining; eyes in the back of your head; Energizer bunny;
Radiant; referee; role-model; ready to do whatever needs to be done to make sure your child grows up to be a wonderful person.

One day late, but Happy Mother's Day to all my mommy friends.

My mood: lethargic

ode to food (from my babe's point of view)

discs of cheesy dough,
gives me a tomato and
pepperoni high.

fruit snack: a rainbow,
pearly, gelatinous goo;
sugary sweetness.

a chocolate chip:
food of gods contained in small,
bite-sized perfection.

licky, sticky spoon
covered with peanut butter,
I need some milk please.

blueberry pop tarts,
when will you be done toasting?
your middles I seek.

Classic Breathed

Opus--Anxiety

I rarely read the comic strip section of the paper since the ending of my beloved Bloom County and Peanuts. Someone told me about this a few weeks ago and it really made my day. Oh, Hill, just give up already... please.

Booksale tomorrow. Crap.

a slacker at heart
extra day of work ahead
weekend invaded

My mood: not thrilled, but still looking forward to my condensed weekend

Random Thought Provokers

middle of the week
work stress... my mind is Jell-O
do stupid survey

What makes you laugh?: Will Ferrell movies
Who is your hero?: Gore
Who would you want to be tied to for 24 hours?: Obama
How many pairs of shoes do you own?: More than I have feet and yet, I have the crazy urge to go out and buy more
Seriously... Where does the other sock end up?: Vaporizes and contributes to increased ozone
Who do you blame for your mood today?: Myself
If the Internet were sex... I would: Be satisfied daily
Have you ever seen a dead body?: Yes, usually birds squished on the road
What is something scientists need to invent?: Longer days
What should we do with stupid people?: Crash test dummies? Ooh, strap them with positive magnets so they repel from on another, thus preventing them from creating stupid babies who will eventually grow up and become stupid adults (which are the worst of the stupid people)
Have you ever broken a bone?: Wishbone
Do you watch local news? Why?: No, just contributes to high blood pressure. Ignorance is bliss
What happens after you die?: Reincarnation? (I want to come back as anything but a bug) Heaven? (Giant shopping mall with credit card paid by someone else) Hell? (Stuck in a room with a room full of Republicans or one Paris Hilton for all eternity) Won't know till I get there
How big is your bed? Big enough?: Big enough for me to sleep on without moving the crap off
How long do you think you will live?: Long enough

My mood: tired

Me vs. You

I’m here and I wanted to say
I’m rooting for my favorite Green Bay,
But if Pats should win,
Much to my chagrin;
The librarian, Phil, will hurray.

(Don't know if my punctuationing is correct. I'm sure if it's not, I'll hear about it from some crazy English teacher)

My mood: fishy

December 09, 2007

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Macy's: $325
Costco: $270
Toys R Us: $135
Bottle of Advil to cure my migraines: priceless

Rain, rain, go away...
I wish that I could play,
But shop I must today.
Headache we'll keep at bay,
Lets hope I do not stray
and cause confusion and delay.
One can only pray,
Bad weather will not stay
and that my meager pay,
Can cover this buffet!
Alas, I am dismayed
and perhaps a little frayed.
Good luck to you I bade
and now I shall evade.
(channeling Seuss)

My mood: better than yesterday

Confuddled

Sometimes, I think I might be going crazy.
Sometimes, I think I might be the only sane person in the room.
Sometimes, I think too much.

Mostly, I think too little.
Or maybe not at all.

I thought I was the sane one.
But now I know I'm not.

My mood: Ambivalent, or so I'm told
