Furloughs aplenty
Anxiously awaiting the news about furloughs. I understand the need, but the whole union vs. state battle for power thing is getting old. In the meantime, we're running out of money (not this year, but soon). Personally, I'm for the furloughs, it's the best alternative given the current economic status. Not that I'd be laid off, I'm fairly high up the list. They'd need to lay off half the system before they get to me. I would enjoy having the extra time off and can get by w/o the money. I know others who will be hurt by it (one very badly).
I am grateful that they have let me keep my sub janitor. I cringe at my other options -- being forced to take another library janitor's help (don't ask me about the cleaning habits of some people who get paid to "clean") or scrubbing toilets myself. If given the choice, I'd rather scrub my own toilets than deal w/the headaches of supervising someone who doesn't do their work... SIGH!
We're going to be closed next week because they're putting on a new roof. Yippee! Hopefully another headache gone. I'm so tired of dealing w/leaky ceilings. I remember once it was so bad, that everytime it rains we had to drape plastic over all the stuff in the workroom we didn't want to get damaged. Yes, it was that bad.
I'm hoping this is the worst of it... we'll see.
