Where do they learn these things?

C-Man has been eyeballing this toy that was bought for someone else. It's a Transformers set. He's very drawn to it and will sit and stare at it for 10 minutes at a time. He's been asking for quite a bit of toys lately due to his recent robot obsession (mainly with Transformers).

Conversation yesterday while he's admiring the toy (yet again):

C-Man: Mommy, I don't have this toy yet.
Me: No you don't.
C-Man: Can we go to the toy store? Then you can buy it for me.
Me: No, we don't have time to go to a toy store. How come you keep asking to buy toys? You have too many.
C-Man: No I don't. I don't have all the toys.
Me: And you're not going to have all the toys. We have no room and you're not going to get spoiled.
C-Man: Well, Mom, if you really love me, you would give this to me.
Me: Ummm. I do really love you and that's exactly why you're not getting it.

Where on earth did he learn that phrase? If you really love me... Of course, the crazy thing is that I've been wanting to give it to him (even before he asked for it). Now I can't give it to him because he'll think that he got it because he's been whining about it all weekend. What's a mom to do?

My mood: been feeling down lately. Need a pick-me-up of some kind. Possible cures I'm debating are: a mai tai, a couple of days off, or a full day of retail therapy.
