Math wiz? Boy genius?

Yesterday, I went grocery shopping w/C-Man. We bought stuff for the Superbowl party. I didn't see if I had a can of spinach at home, so I decided to buy one at the store. When we brought it home, I looked in the cabinet and told him that we already had 2 cans in the cabinet. He says to me "Now we have 3 cans." My jaw dropped. I didn't realize that he could do math, any math. Of course, it's not like he figured out the square root of 1521 or anything, but I thought it was a big deal.

This morning when we were cooking, I took a can of spinach out of the cabinet and was talking him through the recipe for the spinach and artichoke dip. When I took out the can, opened it and then tossed it, he said "Now we have 2 cans."

I asked my teacher friends and fellow mommies if that was average or more advanced. Trini says that it's more advanced because he didn't see the cans in front of him. She thought it was pretty good that he could conceptually come to the correct answers.

Oh, and more mommy bragging. I borrowed A cat and a dog from the library. After reading it to C-Man twice, he can now "read" the story back to me. Meaning he can look at the pictures on the page and he remembers what was on the page when I read it. He does get some of the words wrong, but the content is correct.

I'm thinking full-scholarship to Stanford...
